Background Information:

This application was mainly created to address the problems that the ambulance companies were facing while raising the insurance claim in case of loss of medical records of patients. It was mandatory for them to keep track of all the records of the patients to whom they were providing the service.

The client already had one app developed for a single ambulance company to store and track the medical data of patients to whom they provide ambulance service for pickup and drop-off from or to a hospital. But still, hospitals were not the users of this system.

So, the client wanted to create a multitenant application that can be used by hospitals and ambulance companies so that hospitals can book a trip for some patients from the ambulance companies, and the data can be tracked by both hospitals and ambulance companies.

The users can also track the booked ambulance when it is on its way based on the Nurse’s Mobile app Device location.

This application was mainly created to address the problems that the ambulance companies were facing to raise the insurance claim due to loss of medical records of patients. It was mandatory for them to keep track of all the records of the patients to whom they were providing the service.

Client’s requirement:

The client wanted to create an application that can be used to keep track of all the ambulance services that the ambulance companies provide to the patients/hospitals from various hospitals and store their data and use it whenever required.

Challenges:

As highly confidential medical data of patients were to be stored and saved, we had to encrypt the data for which we had made the system HIPAA compliant.

Hospital users would be able to capture images from the physical documents and the textual data would be extracted from the images uploaded in the system.

The solution

What we did?

We created a web based portal for Hospital users and Ambulance company users and a Mobile app for Nurse users who will be travelling in the ambulance during the trip service.

Web Based portal for Hospital – Case Manager.
Web based portal for Ambulance companies – Dispatch center agent.
Mobile app – Nurse users.

And we made this application feasible for Multitenancy for multiple Ambulance companies and Hospital users.

Hospital users are now able to request a trip on behalf of the patients by adding patient details, and that request would be approved or rejected by the Billing admin and facilitated by the Nurse users during the trip.

We provided a platform to the Hospital users to create a trip request on behalf of the patient by adding the images of the documents which contain the patient’s details like medical information and insurance information.

The ambulance company’s employee, i.e., the Billing admin, will be able to view all the details of the trip request and the patient details for whom the trip request was made.

And the Nurse users who are available in the ambulance to help the patients throughout the trip can use the mobile app to provide updates if there are any changes in the trip. Their device location can also be used to track the ambulance’s navigation.

The Case managers and Billing admins can connect with Nurse users throughout the trip using chat and track the ambulance’s location.

Why we did it?

We created this system so that the correct data is available with all the personas i.e., Hospitals and Ambulance companies, about the ambulance’s trip service so that the ambulance companies can successfully raise insurance by providing all the required data. And hospitals can also make sure that the patient is equipped with a good service as it can also be tracked. So, it’s a win-win for all the users.
